   1 pgpool is a connection server for PostgreSQL. pgpool runs between
   2 PostgreSQL's clients(front ends) and servers(back ends).  A PostgreSQL
   3 client can connect to pgpool as if it were a standard PostgreSQL
   4 server.

   6 pgpool caches the connection to PostgreSQL server to reduce the
   7 overhead to establish the connection to it.  Also, pgpool could use
   8 two PostgreSQL servers for fail over. If the first server goes down,
   9 pgpool will automatically switch to the secondary server.  Moreover,
  10 pgpool supports scheduled switch over.
