   1 iGMT stands for "Interactive GMT" or "Interactive Mapping of
   2 Geoscientific Datasets". It integrates the processing of various Earth
   3 science datasets with a Tcl/Tk graphical user interface for the
   4 generic mapping tools (GMT).

   6 iGMT software is intended to assist in the creation of GMT scripts and
   7 has built-in data processing capabilities for raster data sets such as
   8 topography, sea-floor age, free air-gravity, the geoid, and various
   9 polygon data files such as earthquake hypocentre lists or hot-spot
  10 locations. Clicking on "Map it!" when running iGMT produces a GMT
  11 script whose postscript output is converted and displayed as a GIF
  12 image.

  14 iGMT is used world-wide at more than 120 institutions for everyday
  15 map-making and teaching GMT.

  17 iGMT itself is distributed under the GNU public license. In addition,
  18 iGMT is not to be used for any military purposes or for any other
  19 activities that are against the spirit as expressed in the Student
  20 Pugwash Pledge (http://www.igc.org/pugwash/pledge/).
