   1 The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl
   2 and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the
   3 Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART)
   4 built into most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks.  In many cases,
   5 these utilities will provide advanced warning of disk degradation
   6 and failure.
