   1 Binwalk is a tool for searching a given binary image for embedded
   2 files and executable code. Specifically, it is designed for identifying
   3 files and code embedded inside of firmware images. Binwalk uses the
   4 libmagic library, so it is compatible with magic signatures created
   5 for the Unix file utility.

   7 Binwalk also includes a custom magic signature file which contains
   8 improved signatures for files that are commonly found in firmware
   9 images such as compressed/archived files, firmware headers, Linux
  10 kernels, bootloaders, filesystems, etc.
