   1 git-crypt enables transparent encryption and decryption of files in a
   2 git repository. Files which you choose to protect are encrypted when
   3 committed, and decrypted when checked out. git-crypt lets you freely
   4 share a repository containing a mix of public and private
   5 content. git-crypt gracefully degrades, so developers without the
   6 secret key can still clone and commit to a repository with encrypted
   7 files. This lets you store your secret material (such as keys or
   8 passwords) in the same repository as your code, without requiring you
   9 to lock down your entire repository.
