   1 OpenJUMP is an open source GIS software written in Java. It is based on
   2 JUMP GIS by Vivid Solutions. It's features include:

   4     * It is a Vector GIS that can read rasters as well.
   5     * OpenJUMP is known to work on Windows, Linux and Mac platforms, but
   6       should work on any operating system that runs Java 1.5 or later.
   7     * It is not just another free demo viewer, but you can edit, save,
   8       analyze etc. with JUMP / OpenJUMP.
   9     * It works, even with medium size datasets, and with professional
  10       touch.
  11     * It provides a GIS API with a flexible plugin structure, so that
  12       new features are relatively easy to develope around the sound
  13       mapping platform.
  14     * It utilises standards like GML, WMS and WFS.
  15     * It is already translated in English, Finnish, French, German,
  16       Italian, Portugese and Spanish. The translation in other languages
  17       is in progress.
