   1 PyFITS provides an interface to FITS formatted files
   2 under the Python scripting language. It is useful for
   3 interactive data analysis and for writing analysis
   4 scripts in Python using FITS files as either input or
   5 output. PyFITS is a development project of the Science
   6 Software Branch at the Space Telescope Science Institute.
