   1 Emil is a filter for converting Internet Messages. It supports
   2 three basic formats: MIME, SUN Mailtool and RFC822. It can be
   3 used with sendmail, as a loopback mailer, as a prefilter or
   4 backend program with a mail client program, or as a plain
   5 filter. Conversion can be configured by a configuration file,
   6 emil.cf, using sender, recipient and recipient host as input
   7 parameters or by command line arguments.

   9 Emil is able to:
  10 - convert the format, headers and structure, between messages of type
  11         MIME, Sun Mailtool and RFC822.
  12 - convert the encoding of binary data between Base64, BinHex and Uuencode.
  13 - convert the encoding of text to and from the MIME encoding Quoted-Printable.
  14 - convert character set of text between the character sets made
  15         available by Keld J. Simonsens strncnv package.
  16 - do one-way conversions of 8bit text to the Swedish national variant of
  17         ISO-646 or to US-ASCII.
  18 - convert to and from RFC1522 format headers.
