   1    Icon is a high-level programming language with extensive facilities for
   2 processing strings and structures.  Icon has several novel features,
   3 including expressions that may produce sequences of results, goal-directed
   4 evaluation that automatically searches for a successful result, and string
   5 scanning that allows operations on strings to be formulated at a high
   6 conceptual level.
